Hi, thanks for being interested enough to read about me! I’m Kate, an Editor by trade and a crafter in what little free time I have left outside of being a Mummy (I’m currently on maternity leave with my second child). Which means nap times, evenings and weekends. It’s important ‘me’ time.
I’ve loved all things craft since I was little. My mum was an infant teacher and, on weekends, she’d come up with lots of creative and crafty activities for my best friend and I to try. Crafting took a backseat in my teenage years into early adulthood. Until, that is, a work colleague taught me how to knit. It was just as my first niece was about to arrive; I knitted her a baby blanket and haven’t looked back. I’ve knitted another four blankets since then, hats, booties .. I rediscovered my childhood love of cross stitch. And, more recently, I’ve got into patchwork quilting. My sewing machine, having been bought for me in 2005 by my Nan, had languished in a cupboard until I took quilting classes. Now, I’m pleased to say, it’s always out on the dining table and has recently been joined – not yet retired – by a shiny new machine.
The dream is to be paid to do what I love – crafting – whilst also getting to spend more time at home with my children. Here’s to chasing the dream!
I thought I’d try my hand at blogging to see if it would motivate me to finish some of my unfinished projects. It’s worked! The only problem is, I’m now getting lots more crafty ideas from reading all your blogs. So I think I’ll always be the unfinished crafter.
